Washington DC: Day 2

Day 2!!! We did a LOT on day two. We visited all the museums and monuments that we could see in one day. We saw the Washington Monument, Went into the natural history museum and American history museum, Lincoln Memorial, and I think that is it. Yeah.

First, we boarded the Metro. The Metro was interesting. Not nearly as exciting as others maybe. There were a lot of stops so we didn’t go that fast. We got off the Metro and noticed that we had about 5-10 minutes before we had to be at the Washington Monument or they would give our tickets away. But, a lot of people in our little group had to go to the bathroom. So, my mom went up to say that we were there while everyone else went to the bathroom. When we caught up to my Mom, we waited in line for about 15 to 20 minutes to go inside the Washington Monument. When we got inside, we waited another 10 to 15 minutes to go up to the top floor.

When we finally got to the top floor, there was an amazing view of Washington DC!! You could see the Capital, the White House, the reflecting pool, everything!!

There is a slide show at the bottom of this post that I put in. And there is a picture of a silver triangle in that slide show, that silver triangle is a model of the tip of the Washington Monument. Next we moved on to the American History Museum. They had a LOT of stuff there. They had old cars, old trains, old boats, old military stuff, old TVs, even Kermit the Frog!! They also had instruments that people played at, uh, somewhere. I don’t remember. But, some of them were very interesting. Like a guitar that had jewels on the neck, body, everywhere!! And the whole in the middle was different also. It sort of had different levels to it. Sort of like a pyramid inside of it. And they had a Base type thing that looked like a regular cello or base or whatever, except that they had a whole extra part that really didn’t have anything on it. It didn’t look like it had a very big purpose.

Then we went to the Natural History Museum which is pretty much like the Carnegie Museum we have here. They had fossils and skeletons of dinosaurs and all that stuff. I didn’t take any pictures. Next we went to the Lincoln Memorial. I didn’t get any pictures of that because my memory card was full and I didn’t have any others. But it was kind of cool. While we were walking there, I’d say about 5 or 6 ambulances went by.

Well, that was day 2 of our trip! Day 3 is next! Happy Monday! 🙂
